EAU CLAIRE – Three Menomonie High School basketball alumni are playing with different collegiate teams this season.
Mary Berg and Brooklynn Birt, who played at UW-Stout Polytechnic last season transferred to UW-Eau Claire, while Noah Feddersen is playing his final season of eligibility this season at the University of Colorado after a four year career at North Dakota State University.
Berg and Birt followed head coach Hannah Iverson to Eau Claire after Iverson took the Blugold job in March.
Berg, a junior, and Birt, a sophomore, were both in the starting line-up when the Blugolds traveled to Madison to play the Badgers October 27 in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center.
The NCAA Division I Badgers took a 101-69 win over the Division III Blugolds. The Badgers men’s and women’s basketball programs have been hosting Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (WIAC) teams in early seasons exhibition games for more than 20 years.
Birt scored 13 points while Berg added six points. Addy Verhagen, who also transferred from Stout, led the Blugolds with 15 points.
In a WIAC women’s basketball preseason poll, Eau Claire was picked to finish sixth, while Stout was picked eighth.
Feddersen graduated from NDSU last spring and will play his fifth year with the Colorado Buffaloes. In a season opening exhibition game with North Texas October 18, Feddersen came off the bench to score four points but added three blocked shots, a stat category that was his specialty at NDSU.
Feddersen claimed the start as Colorado opened their regular season Nov. 2 with a 94-59 win over Abilene Christian, scoring 10 points including “two highlight reel dunks,” according to the Colorado story.
The Blugolds open their regular season Saturday, Nov. 7 by hosting Simpson College.
Former UW-Stout Polytechnic men’s basketball standout Brody Fox was selected by the Wisconsin Herd in the 2026 NBA G League Draft on Oct. 24. Fox, a Mahtomedi, Minn., native, was the 50th overall pick. He concluded his collegiate career at The Citadel following an exceptional three-season tenure at Stout, where he established himself as one of the program’s all-time greats.
