The Menomonie boys golf team’s season came to an end in the WIAA Division 1 Sectional June 2 in Marshfield and Bailey Casey pitched a stellar game as the Mustang baseball team advance with a 2-0 win over Marshfield June 2 at Wakanda Park.

Menomonie’s season came to an end Tuesday at the WIAA Division 1 Sectional at RiverEdge Golf Course, where the Mustangs placed sixth in a tightly contested eight-team field.
Menomonie finished with a team score of 332, just two strokes behind Wisconsin Rapids (330) and one stroke ahead of Stevens Point (333). Hudson won the sectional title with a 304, followed by River Falls at 318. The top two teams advanced to the WIAA State Tournament. Tyler Reckin paced the Mustangs with a 7-over-par 79. Wes Miller added an 82, while Trent Wold carded an 83. Quin Rabeneck finished with an 88, and Ben Dahms shot an 89 to round out Menomonie’s scoring lineup.
Baseball
Casey was perfect through four innings and allowed three hits to get the complete game 2-0 win. Casey struck out six batters and didn’t allow a Marshfield runner past first base.
Menomonie scored single runs in the first and third innings and Casey made the runs stand up. Taylor Mars and Landon Middlestadt drove in runs. Oliver Lugo scored two runs.
The Mustangs will travel to Chippewa Falls to take on the Cardinals, Thursday, June 4 at 5 p.m. in the Regional championship game at Casper Park. The game will be available on MustangTV
