MENOMONIE — From toy trucks and antique tools to paper dolls and wrestling memorabilia, the Rassbach Museum is looking for collectors of all ages to share their passions during its fifth annual Collectors Day on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The free event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in Holtby Hall at the Rassbach Museum, 1820 John Russell Road in Wakanda Park.

Museum Manager Sofi Doane said the event celebrates not only the collections themselves, but also the stories and enthusiasm behind them – the people who are passionate about what they collect.

Collectors Day was introduced at the museum after a volunteer attended a similar event elsewhere and believed it would be a good fit for the Rassbach Museum. Since then, the event has grown into an annual showcase featuring about 25 to 30 exhibitors.

There is no buying, selling or trading during the event, Doane said. Instead, exhibitors display their collections and visit with guests about how they got started and what makes their collections meaningful.

The event has attracted exhibitors ranging in age from 7 to their 90s, with some families participating together. While several collectors return each year, many may bring different pieces from their collections, said Doane, giving visitors something new to discover each year.

Past collections have included action figures, fish-shaped bottles, swans, myrtlewood, tin toys, WWE wrestling memorabilia, dollhouses, bells, figurines, breweriana, toy trucks, paper dolls, soda bottles, antique tools and historical documents, along with many other unique collections.
