Varsity Softball beat Rice Lake in a tough battle 3-2. Maci Marlett pitched fantastic and secured the win. Offense was led by Livi Sample with 2 hits and Amanda Holzhueter who hit a 2 run home run. Megan McMahon came in clutch in the bottom of the 7th, hitting a walk off single. JV also won their game against Rice Lake by a score of 19-2. Many players contributed great hitting and the team was led by Presley Verdon who hit an in the park home run and struck out 7 batters in 4 innings. JV 2 lost their 1st game of the season against Durand-Arkansas by a score of 9-12. Zoey Cleveland, Hailey Klanderman, and Jai Hasse all hit doubles.
Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Teams. JV beat Merrill 3-0 with 2 goals scored by Penelope Awsumb and one by Lucka Zazovsky. Aubrie Schlueter earned a shutout.
The Varsity Soccer Team won 4-0. Paula Flores got a hat trick and Sydney Norby had two assists and a goal. Ilisabeth Doran earned a shutout too. Next up they play at Eau Claire North on Thursday.
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team on winning their home Invitational yesterday. The Mustangs swept both Superior and Baldwin-Woodville 7-0 and beat Onalaska 4-3.
Congratulations to the MHS Boys Track Team for their 1st place finish at the Dunn County Invite yesterday. Event champions were Dan Hansen in the 50m hurdles; the 4x100m throwers relay team of Blake Kissh, Grant Nigon, Nolan Ayres and Timmy Berends; Jae Berg in the high jump, long jump and the triple jump. Roberto Valdelamar in the pole vault, Parker Jacobs in the shot put and the 4x400m relay team of Alex Heckendorf, Andrew Heckendorf, DJ Butler and Jon Gruber. Great job boys team.
Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field Team on their excellent performance last night at the Dunn County Invite. Event champions included Claire Mikesell in the 400 meter dash, Emmi Marlett in the shot put, Izzie Whitwam in the pole vault, and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Chloe Bablick, Grace Nevin, Cassiah Casey, and Claire Mikesell. Well done girls!
Congratulations to MHS Music Students on a successful Solo and Ensemble season, performing at three different festivals this Spring. April 11
Congrats to the Soccer Teams for another good showing on the road against Eau Claire North. JV won 1-0 on Valeska Lamadrid’s goal. Ilisabeth Doran was solid in net, earning a shutout in varsity’s 0-0 tie which earned the team a valuable conference point. Both teams play again on Monday.
The Boys Tennis Team opened conference play at Hudson last night earning a 5-2 win. Both Bruce Behrend and Caleb Gunderson had incredible three set comeback wins in their singles matches for the Mustangs! With last night’s win, the team jumps to a quick 7-1 overall record on the season.
Congratulations to the JV2 Baseball Team on winning their season opener against Fall Creek. The Mustangs won the game 9-6 and will play Hudson next Tuesday.
Girls Softball lost to Rice Lake 7-3. The Mustangs were led offensively by Maci Marlett who recorded 2 hits. Adison Hasse, Livi Sample, Amanda Holzhueter, and Ellie Fisher also recorded a hit in last night’s game. JV beat Rice Lake 2-0. Varsity and JV travel to Wausau tomorrow for 2 games and JV2 competes in a tournament in Durand.

JV and Varsity Baseball both traveled to Wausau West Saturday to play the Warriors. JV was able to come home with a 6-1 victory, highlighted by Max Jaeger, Easton Anderson, and Andrew Hoff on the mound. At the plate, the JV team was led by Easton Anderson with 3 hits, and Zach Bird led the team with 2 RBIs on 2 hits. Varsity defeated Wausau West 13-1 behind an excellent outing from AJ Zydowsky. Zydowsky threw 5 innings with 8 strikeouts. The Mustangs offense was led by Cage Sorenson who went 4-4 on the day, Landon Mittlestadt who was 3-3 with 3 RBIs, and Taylor Mars who was 2-4 with his first High School Home run. Both Varsity and JV play at home tonight against Altoona.
All 3 levels of Girls Softball played 2 games on Saturday. Varsity and JV both travelled to Wausau where they both swept their competition. Varsity started the day at Wausau East winning 16-3 in 5 innings. They then beat Wausau West 6-2. The Mustangs were red hot on offense, tallying 29 hits on the day. Livi Sample went 6-6 with 2 homeruns, a double, and 3 walks. Siera Auth was 5-8 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs, Ellie Fisher tallied 4 hits, and Amanda Holzhueter hit a solo homerun in game 2. Defensively Siera Auth and Maci Marlett both took home a complete game win from the mound and there were no errors committed in either game. JV Beat Shawano and Wausau West, both by a score of 7-6. Vivian Lorenzen pitched a complete game without walking a batter and went 6/6 from the plate. Joss Turner also pitched great, talling 13 strikeouts against Wausau West. JV2 was led by their pitchers, Darla Woodford and Hailey Klanderman who combined for 18 strikeouts on the day. They lost 15-16 to Durand-Arkansas and 4-11 to Onalaska.
Congratulations to the MHS Forensics Team for their great performance at State this past weekend! The team earned 15 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals! The team will find out in a few weeks if they earned a top award as a team. Congratulations to the MHS Boys Track and Field Team for their outstanding performance at the BRC True Team Invite on Friday at Hudson. The boys finished 2nd overall. Individual 3rd place finishers included Dan Hansen in the 300m hurdles, Bauer Messerschmidt in the pole vault, Blake Kissh in the discus and the 4x100m relay team of Hansen, Parker Jacobs, Avion McIntosh and DJ Butler. 2nd place finishes were Jae Berg in the high jump and 110m hurdles, Nolan Bien in the 300m hurdles, the 4x200m relay team of Rylan Holmstadt, Scotty Hoiby, Alex Heckendorf and Kenny Heim. Nolan Bien was our lone event champion, winning the 110m high hurdles. Great job boys team.
April 15
Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Teams. JV beat Chippewa Falls 4-0. Lucka Zazovsky scored 3 goals and Tristynn England scored as well. Varsity beat Wausau East 4-0. Scoring for the Mustangs were Syd Norby, Ari Beazley, Allysa Benrud and Lauren Alexander. Both teams play at home Tuesday and Thursday next week.
Another cold & windy day, worse than last week but the Boys Golf Team responded well! We finished 4th and were 1 shot out of a tie for 2nd. Our last golfer 3 putted the final hole. Tyler Reckin led the way shooting a 40 good for 7th place and Trent Wold a 41 good for 9th.
JV Softball traveled to Fall Creek and lost a close game 10-11. Joss Turner hit a double in the 6th inning to gain the lead and Elsa Eliott went 3/4 with 3 stolen bases in the loss.
JV2 Softball dropped another tough fought battle 7-8 against Bloomer. Jai Hasse and Zoey Cleveland had great defensive games and Alyssa Polus hit a triple to start a 3-run inning.
JV Baseball had a 19-1 victory over Altoona last night. Zach Bird threw three innings with no earned runs. Along with Bird, Tyler Sutherland, and Garrett Witt were dominant on the mound. As a team JV had 19 runs on 17 hits.
Varsity Baseball won 6-5 on a walk off home run by Taylor Mars. Along with Mars’ home run, the Mustangs offense was headed by Mitch Scribner who had a clutch triple to lead off the 6th inning when the Mustangs were down by 1. On the mound, Rex Drout, Zack Miller, Cade Lamb, and Bailey Casey allowed 1 earned run. Casey came away with the victory against Altoona. The Mustangs play Hudson tonight at home.
